Earth Day & A bit of Myth?

It's Earth Day today. Like Earth Hour, this is another way of raising awareness in conserving our Mother Earth so that we can continue to live in it.

To be honest, I wasn't aware of it, not until early last week when I came across one article about "meat eater vs vegetarian" in one of the local newspaper at the gym seating area. Guess I was not an avid environmentalist back then. Not that I am one now, but I do want to do something to help addressing the environment issues that we are facing now.

In the article, it was said that being a vegetarian actually helps in curbing our carbon footprints in this world. It has something to do with the amount of energy needed in order to supply us with meats. Won't write much on this cause you can pretty much just googled on any carbon footprint issues to read further. But I do want to point out a challenge raised by the writer, is to not eat meat for a week. Anybody up for the idea?

For my part, there's not much I've done to Mother Earth though. Of late I'm recycling plastic bottles regularly. It's easy, I just store empty plastic bottles and whenever I need to do my grocery shopping I will just bring them along and dump them at the designated recycling bin in front of the hypermarket (*hint Jusco). And I have my cute reusable bag for my shoppings to avoid plastic bag being used. It's a plus that Jusco plastic bags are biodegradable. Same like Fitness First plastic bags. So I can use them (still sparingly though) knowing that they'll recycle themselves in time. Other than that, I am switching of any unnecessary lights and any electrical points must be switched off when not in use. Not much... but I'm educating myself and my partner slowly. What about you guys? Any tips of environment friendly that you want to share?

On a different note, I was watching this "Lost Tape - Monterey Monster & Megalania on Discovery Channel last night and I can't help wondering the genuity of these tapes. Both tapes showed how the life of 2 people ended eaten/killed by these "mythical" creatures, captured on tape. If you did watch these before, the underwater shadowy image of the "monterey monster" was just disturbing and frightening. Tried to google about these tapes and people claims that these tapes were fake. But why did Discovery Channel aired them? They did state though, at the beginning of each tape saying "This story is inspired by the possibility that hidden creatures exist". Personally, I think these tapes are fake too. But a portion of myself wanting these creatures to exist just to add more mysteries to the world. My fav "mythical" monster is the infamous Lochness. :)

So mythical creatures infested or not, Mother Earth is still such a beautiful and amazing world to live in. So do try to do your part to protect our HOME whenever possible. @9779@

Shithead!

Pardon me, but I just need to vent.

I just came back from the gym and I'm not feeling well at the moment. Just now while heading back to the car, Maso and I passed thru this line of cars illegally parked outside. And just before we crossed the road, there's this car wanting to illegally side park his car there too causing us to step further aside in order to avoid the car ... And both of us muttered "Bodoh". (Yalah, u illegaly parked, causing trouble to ppl)

Then suddenly out of nowhere, got this one guy standing near one of the illegaly parked cars there shouted something like " you dua orang la yang bodoh, macam babi". I was like ??? WTF?! Both of us looked at him and he's still bla bla bla something but we kept walking towards my car. Maso said he was like wanting to chase us. OMG, perasan mau mampus...

I can't really see the face but he's dark skinned. WTF, you can rot in hell like I care.

Entertained but scared.

It's been a while since I last watched a scary film and since I gatal2 go and subscribed to April's Tayangan Hebat at Astro, my partner and I decided to layan "They Wait" just now.

The movie was about a tragedy befallen on one family during the Hungry Ghost Festival. I would say it's an OK scary movie, yet I wouldn't be watching it if I were alone... Haha.
I have something to share with you guys. When I was in secondary school, I was sooo into horror, dark mysteries and supernatural books.I think I read them too much that when I was in Form 5, I have had a some kind of a meltdown. I can't really explain much (as I can't quite understand why it happened)...

What happened was, on this one day I woke up and I started crying, crying and crying. I managed to get ready for school (I was schooling in SBPS, so it's a dormitory life), and I remembered it was like 5am or almost 6am , and I headed to one of our public phone available in front of our admin building. It was still a bit dark, and when I called home and my father answered and I was like sobbing and crying... I don't even remember what I was saying. Then my father asked me whether I want to talk to my mum and I said yes. But I don't remember what I told my mum too. I was like " sob...mie...sob sob... mummy.. sob". Got the idea right? Haha.
Cut the story short, I was still crying and was sitting in the principal's office waiting for my parents to come. When they arrived they asked permission to bring me back to home for a day. When we reached home, I remembered my mum started crying too, asking me what happened to me and stuff. She must have thought the worst. I couldn't say much cause I was still stupidly crying. And moments later my grandmother (I call her Mama) came to the house. Then she asked me to drink a glass of water with some weird pieces of wood inside. And I slept.
Amazingly, when I woke up, I was normal again. No more this heaviness in my chest that caused me to cry. I couldn't recall what caused me to cry earlier though. Being parents, they kept asking what happened to me. Then I told my mum and Mama that I was reading a ghost story the nite before, but not sure if the culprit because nothing else happened. Then they said that I was lemah semangat... which resulted in a meltdown. So I was forbidden to read anymore scary stuffs at that time. Yalah, with SPM coming at that time.
So since that incident, I gave up all ghost story books and no more horror films. Since I love reading so much, I started picking up romance novels instead. Haha, talking about a total diversion. Now that I'm an adult, I still somehow detest horror movies... and after all these years I finally read a scary novel months ago. I'm playing it safe I think. Hehehe.
I wonder if anyone has ever experienced this lemah semangat thing... I don't know what to believe but I do hope it will never happened again. Did freak me out.
P/S - My partner is dragging me to watch Fast & Furious tmr nite. Hope it'll worth my Sunday nite...O_O

Sepa mau tidur kijap?

I was reading my April issue of Reader's Digest during lunch today and came across this article on "How The World Sleeps". It's interesting to know that the sleeping culture differs almost greatly around the world.

The one part which amazes me was that in Spain, napping in the afternoon (or siesta) is widely practiced even on weekdays. Was mentioned that this actually contributes to a more productive employee rather than working straight for hours and hours and it benefits the cardiovascular health too. Japan also supporting this idea. (Malas mo tulis panjang2, bagus lagi kalau korang baca ni article sendiri..hehe)

However, for Western perception, napping at work shows sign of laziness. Darn it. I think sepa sepa yang kerja in the private sector mesti paham ni. Yalah, most of the private sectors are somehow US based ka, UK based ka... etc etc...

Just recently, I started to be able to just dozed off on my desk. U know like during lunch hour / after 6pm (after office hours la) but it won't be for long period. I think the longest nap I took after 6pm was about 10 minutes... But then, even if I let myself to doze off, there's this subconcious state of myself thinking that maybe my boss will see me dozing myself in the office and wonder why am I still in the office without doing any work...

Oh, how I wish I'm in Spain or some other hot countries where siesta is allowed... Just imagine, if we are to be allowed to bring our fav blanket or pillow and given an hour or so just napping ourselves away.... It'll be a total bliss!
